In the real world, some ESD carpet can loose its electrical properties when subjected to wear from the repeated movement of casters on an office chair. The Roller Caster Electrical Test (CET) is designed to simulate this action. This test will tell you whether a carpet will retain its electrical properties after it has been exposed to a year or two of chairs rolling over the floor. Rolling casters can destroy or mash the carbon fibers in some conductive carpeting resulting in failed electrical performance and can turn a once conductive product into an insulator.

Discovery and Conductors Series carpet have been tested for resistance to chair caster abuse. After 100,000 chair caster cycles there was no depreciable change in conductivity or electrical performance.
