STATICWORX LAUNCHES PRECISION-MILLED CONDUCTIVE VINYL TILE StaticWorx installs 32,000 feet of AmeriWorx precision-milled conductive vinyl tile at WATERTOWN, MA—January 22, 2008—StaticWorx, Inc., located in Watertown, Massachusetts, launched its AmeriWorx precision-milled vinyl tile with a 32,000 square foot installation at Fawn Electronics in Nashville, NC. StaticWorx is converting the AmeriWorx precision-milled conductive vinyl tile at their USA facility in Calhoun, Georgia, location. AmeriWorx provides a high density, low maintenance walking surface with static control properties for use in all types of factory environments or data centers. In a survey, national flooring contractors cited the biggest problems they encounter with most conductive tile products: “The color doesn’t go all the way through the tile, so scratches are impossible to hide. Many foreign-manufactured tiles seem to change dimensionally before and after installation. There is little consistency in resins used to make tile, so tile colors vary from one run to another. When installing conductive tile, because many tiles are not cut with a precision process, it’s hard to get tight seams.” The AmeriWorx tile was designed to address these concerns. AmeriWorx tile provides an extremely high shine without the need for waxes or polishes of any kind. The AmeriWorx resin is tightly controlled by Staticworx. The company selected its resin after significant research, based in part on clean-ability studies performed in high-traffic grocery and retail spaces in Europe. Fawn chose Ameriworx conductive tile because they wanted the easy repairability of a modular floor along with the clean white look of a hospital operating room. StaticWorx makes the tile in a large format then mills it to size after the tile vinyl has acclimatized – one more process control that prevents dimensional changes. The precision milling process, done with an automated C&C milling machine, creates tiles that can be tightly placed without gaps as they are installed. The result is a near seamless installation. Michael Alley, a master flooring mechanic who installed all 32,000 feet at Fawn, says, “this tile allowed us to greatly increase our productivity. When tiles are perfectly square and there is no variation in gloss or thickness you can essentially improve your productivity by as much as 20%. Considering that labor is as much as 30% of the total cost of a new floor – that can mean the difference between a contractor making money or losing money on a tight project.”
